Last week ended with our hero giving
Jillian a lopsided smile after she’d lowered her voice, trying to soothe him…
His
smile made her nervous and Jillian tried harder to get him to agree.
“It
looks like you’re losing a lot of blood. You’re not going to be okay without
some assistance. Let me call someone to help you.” Though she could have run
back inside and made the call anyway, his agreement was important to her. She
needed him to want her help.

Exciting excerpt, very tense...I definitely want to keep reading this story!
I wonder why she feels she needs his approval? She needs to take charge or lots of bad things could happen to this guy. Exciting six!
Nice dialogue. I love how she's concerned for his feelings as much as for his physical well being. Good foundations for whatever might follow ;-)
